Since 2019 is reaching its end, I thought it would be a perfect timing to write about bullet journals and show you how I’m going to organize my appointments and schedule for next year!

Bullet journals are really popular lately, I don’t think I need to properly explain what it is and how it works; for my readers who have never heard about it, I guess you can consider it like some kind of diary you can use to organize your daily routine, but also to make plans for your future.

You don’t need to follow specific patterns already predetermined, you can organize it however you want, adding personal trackers, various lists and whatever you think could be fun or useful to improve your life and achieve your goals.

I love watching youtube videos to take a peek into other people’s journals, so I thought some of you could be curious to see how I set up mine; who knows, maybe I can give you nice ideas!

I’m not an artist of any kind, so don’t expect to see pretty pages as you could find on instagram; I just want to share which trackers I’m using and explain how they helped me to increase my productivity.

These are my 2020 journals: I’ll start with the pink one and probably migrate to the dark blue one around September or October.

First of all, my bullet journal starts with a few lists I decided to keep updating through the year:

  • I keep track of all the important events and my favorite things of 2020, so I can find them easily at the beginning of my journal if I’ll ever want to reminisce in the future and check how my 2020 was.

  • I decided my 2020 goals and I’ll fill them up on a scale every achievement I reach.

  • I have a page to fill with every drama or anime I watch, books I read, games I complete and music I listen to.

  • I also have wishlists for games I want to buy, anime or drama I want to watch and music I need to check out.

  • I keep track of my blog ideas and posts.

  • I write every time I buy something for my hobbies, so I can better manage my finances.

Some of these lists are filled already:

After this general part which I can fill over the year, the monthly set up starts.

I see most of the bullet journalists prefer weekly set ups, but I don’t need that much space, since I usually don’t have multiple appointments or tasks every day.

I just use this simple monthly log where I write events:

Then, let’s talk about my trackers.

When I first started journaling, I used many; but then, I realized they took me a lot of time to fill up and they didn’t improve at all my habits.

So I stick with the ones I use the most:

  • A mood tracker, which shows me immediately how my month was.

  • An hobby tracker, where I can keep track of my daily hobbies (like reading, listening to music, playing games, writing…) and an housechores tracker, so I don’t forget to keep clean my house in each room. I used to have a productivity tracker, but I soon realized it didn’t work for me, since sometimes I mostly focus on one task instead of multiple ones, but it doesn’t mean I was lazy all day long.

  • I keep track of the hours I spend on japanese and finnish stuff, just to make sure I keep a nice knowledge of both languages.

  • My goals of the month.

  • I keep track of the anime, drama, music and books I completed each month.

  • I have a page for my to-do’s list of the month.

I try to be creative every month and come up with different patterns, but I’m not an artist so… this is how my January Mood tracker looks like:

That’s all, this is my bullet journal set up!

Do you have a bullet journal already? Or are you planning to start one?

I’m really curious to see how are you using it to improve your life and keep track of everything!

Since I have many journals, I plan to make an instagram account before the end of the year, to show you some old stuff and also my new monthly spreads.

But I’ll probably keep writing about journaling here too, from time to time!
