Tlicolity Eyes Vol. 1

I’ve been curious about Tlicolity Eyes since its release for PC, but I didn’t know if I wanted to wait for the Switch version (which contains all the episodes) or just buy the PC segment which mostly interested me, the first one.

But since I waited too much, the world decided for me: the Switch port was out of stock when I made up my mind and decided to buy it, so I just went for Episode I on PC, and here I am.

This long introduction is not useless as is seems (or maybe it actually is), but it’s necessary to explain why I’m reviewing just 2 routes, instead of the full game; and I’ll probably never review the full version, but who knows…. seeing what happened with Jakou no Lyla, I don’t trust myself anymore. If I find the Switch port somewhere at a decent price (no, 80 euros as I saw on Amazon are NOT my idea of “decent price”) I may consider getting it. Or maybe I’ll just buy episode II, since episode III with the twins looks unappealing to me, I’m not into shota or guys dressed up as girls.

ANYWAY

If you’re still reading this review despite all this nonsense, let’s get into this game!

The heroine is called Sakura, she’s a cute 18 years old who gets scouted to work as an actor, despite lacking any kind of experience.

But at least, since in that world some people have superpowers, she has a special ability too: she can “temporarily upgrade someone else’s status”.

This means she can be really helpful to everyone around her who needs to overcome a problem, at work or in everyday life.

But every time she uses her power on a boy, he suddenly falls in love with her, saying sexy lines to seduce her! (and he randomly starts sparkling)

After a few minutes, this side effect disappears, leading to embarrassing reactions. (exactly as Shinobi koi utsutsu, if you ever played this game or heard about it).

There are 2 routes: Chihiro and Masato.

Chihiro is an actor, who works really hard and wants everything to be perfect under his control; no time to waste with amateurs, acting is serious stuff!

At first I was scared that he was going to be rude, but even if the game describes him as “ore sama”, he soon revealed his tsundere hidden personality with the typical random blushing. I’m probably easy to please, but I enjoyed his route very much!

I admit I’m weak to boys with red hair and green eyes, I feel mesmerized just by looking at them; but Chihiro also has a great personality, he was serious but not annoying or boring.

He was also a great coworker, who helped Sakura to overcome her trust issues; he will surely be a supporting boyfriend, probably good husbando material too.

What I appreciated the most, was the perfect balance between fluff, sexy lines and serious stuff: I never got bored in a situation, the pacing was perfect to build feelings for a character and solve his past issues. I felt empathy, but it wasn’t dragged too much and it never got boring.

Masato’s route could have been great, since he’s sweet and funny, but sadly the writers decided to go for a “I’m too old for you/we should not fall in love/you’re too pure for me” theme, which usually applies mostly to teachers.

I don’t think it makes much sense here, since the heroine is a 18 university student, not a little girl; and poor Masato, if he’s an old grandpa, I guess I’m an Egyptian mummy!

After he decided to give up and accept his feelings, they started some kind of secret relationship and I still enjoyed it, he’s good boyfriend material. I just wish he could open up about his past issues a bit more, at the end I feel like I know just a little part of him and I can’t help him at all!

His route felt a bit sad, I think it needed to be longer so he could overcome his issues instead of having a random happy ending without a deep explanation. But that’s ok, this game is based on fanservice, not on plot.

After the main route, a nice surprise: why should you choose one guy, if you can date both?

As you could expect, Chihiro and Masato basically keep hitting on her, being jealous of each other and competing, while she’s clueless of it all.

They pretend to be innocent, saying that it’s important for fellow actors to get along in private life, so they can act more naturally and comfortably, while working together. It’s obviously a lame excuse to date her, but she believes every word they say and doesn’t realize at all what’s really happening around her.

Anyway, it was really fun and I wasn’t able to choose one, not even while playing the sexy After Story, that made me literally explode inside. That was great fanservice!

So, would I recommend this game?

ABSOLUTELY YES. But if you’re not into fluffy stuff, if you need deep plots or action scenes to fall in love or be interested, this game is not for you at all.

Well, it seemed pretty obvious to me the moment I realized there are no bad endings!

There are sad issues, but never dragged for too long, everything gets solved pretty easily.

Most of all, this game is made to have fun with the Tlicolity mode, which happens when a character starts saying sexy lines to the protagonist, as a side effect of her power.

I guess the rest of the “plot” is just made up so the characters can get closer and have a reason to fall in love, not related to their weird abilities.

But who cares? Even as a person who prefers dark otome games, I love some fluff from time to time, it’s perfect to just relax and have fun.

I’d never reject a cute 2D boy who says cute or sexy lines to me, he’s always welcomed!

So if you’re into this kind of game, don’t be like me and buy the full game for Switch!

You know, I write on this blog so people like you can avoid my mistakes, learn from this and be a better person! 😀

Hello! I don’t think there’s an english patch, but I’m not an expert, I don’t know fans who make patches, so I may be wrong! I’ve never heard about it!
