It’s been a couple years since I played Yunohana Spring, so I guess it’s time for me to complete this series with the fandisk!

I won’t lie, my expectations were not high, since I wasn’t completely satisfied with the original game to begin with: I remember myself being bored in too many scenes, when the characters spent most of the routes taking care of annoying customers’ problems; but I loved the boys and I really wanted to meet them again, so I gave this series another chance.

Well, it was bad idea.

You’d think a fandisk is made for cute and romantic scenes, right? The ones you didn’t get in the original game for plot reasons, right? Well, you’ll be disappointed like me.

The cute art, the relaxing setting and the (kinda plain) plot could be perfect for an easy-to-play game, funny and entertaining, even if it doesn’t aim to be memorable and original.

But somehow, the writers were able to make it extremely uninteresting, I found myself yawning most of the time and I don’t even know how I managed to complete it.

But let’s take a look together at this disaster.

Cherishing Time is split in 3 different sections: Another Story, After Story and If Stories.

Another Story was the most interesting, because it introduces a new character, who has a great personality: he’s a childhood friend of Yunoha, who’s obviously in love with her and tries to compete with the other guys to stand out. His perfection makes him a bit arrogant, but also charming; for me at least, self confident guys are usually my type.

I wish he had a complete route, but sadly there was only a short ending. What a pity, he could have been the saving grace of this game.

As predictable, the After Story starts right where the first game ended, after the good ending; time to see what happened next, after their love confessions and the official start of their relationships.

I expected something interesting to happen, or at least cute couple scenes, but it was short and kinda boring most of the time: annoying customers to take care of, angst from the past… stuff I didn’t need anyway, it felt like a waste of time.

The saddest part is: Umenosuke only got this section and he was the character I wanted to know more, since he was shoved in randomly in the first game, so we didn’t have much time to spend together and actually feel some connection with him; it could have been a great chance to make his mature personality shine, but I guess the writers just hate him and tried to erase his existence as fast as they could.

I enjoyed more the If Story section, even if it was the same for every character; but at least, there were a few comedy scenes that made me laugh and some random fanservice I never refuse in a fandisk. The plot itself was really stupid but I just ignored it and focused on the characters and their interactions.

So, would I recommend it? I guess it’s obvious.

Unless you are a big fan of the first game, I wouldn’t.

I think the characters (or at least a couple of them) had some potential, the setting too, but somehow the boring writing ruined it all; overall, it felt just like a waste of time and money.

I was almost going to drop it after a couple runs, but I decided to do my best to complete it all and leave Takahira’s route last, since he’s always been my best boy and he could give me the motivation to continue playing.

I’m glad I did it, since his route was the best as usual and I got rewarded with a bathtub scene, so overall it didn’t left me a bad aftertaste; but even if I love him, a route can’t be enough to save a whole game.

At least I can tell you a good advice: if you don’t like that much a series when it starts, don’t buy a fandisk hoping it will get better; it will probably be even worse.
