I loved Brothers conflict Passion Pink, even if the gameplay was really annoying, that’s why I’ve obviously played Brilliant Blue too!

As usual, I experienced the panic of “this event doesn’t unlock and I don’t know what I did wrong!”, but it was worth it, because I enjoyed these characters too, even if my favorite were all in the previous game.

The atmosphere here is darker, I got to experience more angst and sad situations; also, their past was sometimes hard to overcome.

I’ve played Ukyo first, because he looked very serious, and I imagined his route would be a bit boring; but it wasn’t, I appreciated all the cute and funny moments! It was a nice surprise, almost like Masaomi in Passion Pink.

The elder boys in Brocon have been overshadowed by the younger ones in the anime, but they totally deserve more love.

Entering Iori’s route was not easy, since I had to raise also Kaname’s affection… but not too much, or he could just become a yandere and kill us all.

I was expecting something creepy, but this exceeded my imagination!

I can understand him, he was shocked by his girlfriend’s death, but that doesn’t justify his crazy reactions and all the blame he put on the poor Kaname.

I think he has a serious mental issue, but nobody seems to care or to fully understand how deep and scary it is; just taking care of him is not enough, this boy really needs a psychiatrist to overcome his trauma, or he will just keep being obsessed forever.

I’ve played Azusa later and it was a quiet, nice route as I expected.

He had an inferiority complex towards Tsubaki, it was predictable just by watching the anime; all I needed to do, was to make him understand how much he’s worthy as a person and a seiyuu.

I love Tsubaki, but Azusa can totally stand on his own!

But honestly, it was a nice route anyway: I thought it could be worse, but he wasn’t just talking about his twin all the time.

Unfortunately, Louis was quite boring to play; or maybe the right word for his route is useless?

I don’t dislike him, but his events were not interesting at all! It also felt shorter than the others, as if the writers themselves had no ideas.

The ending was so predictable… the only CG that stuck in my mind, was the bathroom scene. I admit it, that was hot!

I’ve played Natsume last, because he was the one who interested me the most.

Playing Azusa before him was a huge mistake, because I spoiled myself most of Natsume’s dates; his CGs were nice anyway, and his events too.

I also appreciated how the writers actually put some efforts in the plot, because they came up with believable reasons to justify why Ema was going to his house so often.

I just wished there was some kind of shocking revelation, to explain why he gave up on running.

Honestly, I think the brothers in Brilliant Blue are not interesting and well developed as the ones in Passion Pink; maybe it’s just me, because all my favorites are in the other game, but overall this wasn’t as good.

Iori is the only one with a great route, even if it’s a bit disturbing; the others had no shocking moments, everything was quite predictable from the start.

Obviously, this kind of game doesn’t rely on heavy plot or action, but at least the writers should work a bit on the characters interactions, to make it original and interesting to play.

Do I recommend it?

If you played Passion Pink, or watched the anime, this is absolutely a must play: at least, you get to know more about every character and also understand more some anime scenes.

It also may be a nice change, if you usually play games with an heavy plot that need you to be always focused.

But if you’re not interested in slice of life games, or haven’t watched the anime at all, this will probably seem just a waste of time.

I don’t regret playing both games, because almost all the characters managed to reach my heart somehow: Tsubaki and Fuuto will always be in my personal top10, I really love them.

But they were the ones who showed me the otoge world, so I’m probably just biased.
