TOP5 Characters voiced by Midorikawa

Hikaru Midorikawa is probably one of the most popular seiyuu and when it comes to otome games, he left a great impression with many roles.

I admit it, somehow I always associate him with bad boys. Am I the only one?

Actually, after so many games, I’ve probably just learned to doubt everyone.

Here’s my TOP5 characters voiced by Midorikawa!

5- Tomoe (Starry Sky)

He knows what he wants and does everything to get it; you know, he’s a Capricorn!

4- Matheus (Moujuutsukai to Ouji-sama)

A strong and romantic prince. His story looks like a fairy tale and I loved its happy ending.

3- Nabari (Nil Admirari)

I realized something felt wrong since the first moment I’ve heard this man speaking.

You know, when you feel that weird sense of danger, even if a character seems nice?

I wasn’t wrong.

2- Ayato (Diabolik Lovers)

I’ve played so many Diabolik Lovers games, I can’t help but think immediately of Ayato, whenever I hear Midorikawa’s voice. His famous “chichinashi” is stuck in my head forever.

1- Masato (Moshikami)

He was the creepiest character I’ve ever played.

No matter how many crazy routes I’ve sit through in my life, his madness reached a level I won’t be able to forget. He’s probably the main reason why I can trust any character voiced by Midorikawa anymore, the shock was too huge.

Who’s your favorite character voiced by Midorikawa?

TOP10 otoge anime adaptations

Otome games’ anime adaptations are usually criticized for various reasons: most of the times the plot doesn’t make sense to people who haven’t played the original game, since there are too many cut scenes and a low budget.

Are there some series worth watching? here’s my opinion, from the worst to the best adaptation!

10- Dynamic Chord

This is the perfect example of “everything gone wrong”: it was so low budget, it made me feel embarrassed whenever I tried to watch it.

I wish it was a case of “so bad, so good”, but it was so terrible I couldn’t even laugh at it, it was just cringey. Those animations still haunt my dreams and forever will.

If you haven’t seen it and you think “come on, it can’t be THAT bad!” go check it out because it’s even worse that your worst imagination! I’m not even kidding, I wish I was.

9- Norn9

Being able to handle 3 heroines and 9 boys was already a difficult task for the game, so it’s not surprising if it was even harder to adapt in the anime.

I think it was basically impossible to understand what was going on for those who haven’t played the game before watching and it was kinda disappointing even for the fans.

8- Amnesia

Since I watched the anime before playing, I was confused all the time: is she dying for random reasons? Why does she put herself in dangerous situations without thinking?

I guess it’s hard to mix the routes together and give some screen time to every character, but it looked too forced and the poor heroine seemed kind of stupid.

Amnesia is one of my favorite series and this anime wasn’t able to portray the atmosphere and emotions you feel while playing.

7- Dance with Devils

Emo liar, anyone? The Pomeranians’ choir? Demons singing while fighting? there was everything you can imagine in your wildest dreams.

Those scenes were so trash, it was epic and unforgettable. It was that kind of trolling that made me laugh until I cried, instead of being disappointed or angry.

6- Nil Admirari

Since I was deeply involved with the plot, while I was playing, I was happy to see how the anime adaptation managed to make it understandable and enjoyable.

Hayato is the main character, but I think every guy had some romantic or cute scenes, which were nicely added without making the heroine look like a cheater; I liked her relationship with everyone.

5- Brothers Conflict

This is a simple story, even too basic probably, but all the characters are really charming in a different way. It was the anime that made me fall into otome games hell, so I’m terribly biased, but I’d still recommend it to someone who wants to enjoy a funny anime with good looking guys desperate for their sister’s love.

4- Code Realize

It’s an heartbreaking story about self development, growth and love.

Cardia is a great heroine: strong yet fragile, determined but also scared… we can all understand her pain and struggle.

This anime focuses on her relationship with Lupin, which is obvious since the game is very biased too; it may end up being frustrating for those who prefer other characters, but overall I think this adaptation was enjoyable. Some parts may be difficult to understand for those who haven’t played the games, but overall I’d recommend watching it.

3- Utapri

I won’t lie, I’m not a great fan of the games (I’ve played 5 of them, and I was never completely satisfied), but the anime made me laugh like crazy and entertained me with catchy song.

I love the boys and it was amazing seeing their personal and professional growth; they started as strangers with various complexes and became a group of great friends and talented idol.

This is mostly true for Starish, but don’t forget how Quartet Night changed for the better too.

It’s funny and inspiring at the same time!

2- Meiji Tokyo Renka

When I was playing Meiji Tokyo Renka, I always hoped it could become an anime, one day: there’s an interesting setting, crazy characters and funny scenes, what else can you ask for?

It was so surreal, I couldn’t even imagine most of the boys as possible love interests; at some point, I started considering it an amazing comedy game with additional romance, which is exactly the same vibe I got from the anime.

It’s been a long time since I laughed so much at the nonsense, it was truly a blessing.

I highly recommend every otome fan to watch it!

1- Hakuouki

I think it was a great adaptation, despite being so obviously Hijikata-centered.

The game itself is plot driven, so I guess it was easiest to follow the most “important” route; but I don’t think it was a bad choice, since the story is enjoyable even for people who haven’t played the games. I’d recommend it to everyone who enjoys historic settings and tragedies, cause it made me cry a lot of times.

TOP10 School otome games

When I first started playing otome games, school settings were my favorites: they made me want to go back to high school and be a teenager in love!

But don’t be fooled, some may be deeper and sadder than they seem.

Here are some of my favorites:

10 Gakuen Club

What would you do, if you’d found out there’s a secret night club in your school? I guess the best option is working from behind the scenes, so you can get to know these hosts better and get closer to them!

9- Trigger Kiss

Even if it’s not a “normal” school, since the characters have superpowers, I’d still put this game into the school genre, since it involves school club “sport” activities.

It was funny and entertaining, so if you’re looking for something easy, just join their club!

8 Bad Medicine

Don’t trust these teachers, their obsessions will drive you crazy.

Even if they seem gentle and considerate, they are hiding a dark side you’ll soon discover, when you step in the “special” room. Good luck surviving this nightmare!

7 Uta no prince sama

This is a music school, so you get the unique chance to help your ikemen classmates to become successful idols, while writing their songs!

6- Zettai Kaikyuu Gakuen- Eden with roses and phantasm

It looks like the typical school game, but it isn’t: if you want to reach an happy and fulfilling school life, you’re going to suffer a lot. And when you think the problems are over, that’s where the real plot starts. It’s a place full of mysteries, but the shocking truth hidden behind the appearance makes it worth playing.

5- Starry Sky

I won’t choose just a single game, the whole series deserves a try.

It’s innocent, maybe too much, but it allows you to experience the high and lows of school life.

My favorite game was Winter!

4 Kamigami no asobi

This school is really special, since the students are divinities from all over the world, who want to learn more about humans; help them to understand human feelings and find love!

3 KLAP

This is what we’ve all been waiting for: we finally get the chance to be a teacher and discipline our students! But be careful: they are demons and they still have to learn how to control their superpowers, prepare your whip!

2- Gekka Ryouran Romance

If you get bored easily of a fluffy school life, this is the game you’re looking for: there’s no much time for romantic dates, when you’re surrounded by creepy teachers and do-s students.

Don’t trust anyone, and good luck surviving this hell!

1- Storm Lover

I know many people disliked the stat raising system, but it was so easy I couldn’t even find it annoying; somehow, studying made even more realistic the school experience.

I loved those boys, their interactions and their unique personalities!

I wish I had classmates like them when I was a student, I would have plenty of funny memories.

TOP10 PC Games

If you only play on PC and don’t plan to buy a PsVita or a Switch, don’t be sad: there are plenty of amazing otome games for PC too!

Here’s my TOP10:

10- Alice Alice

If you enjoy dummy head mic fanservice, this game has a lot of great seiyuus. Don’t forget your headphones!

9- Ephemeral Fantasy on dark

Even if the setting is supposed to be dark, these weird characters made this game funny and enjoyable. At first I was a bit shocked, but I ended up laughing even at creepy yandere lines.

8- Blackish House

It’s a very dark and twisted series, so… if you give it a try, it will shock you. It’s not for everyone, but the writing is good.

7- Ayakashi Gohan

It’s a sad story about fate that will make you cry.

The heroine’s personality changes depending on the choice you make when she’s younger, so it gives you the feeling of 2 different heroines; and she’s voiced!

6- Zettai Kaikyuu Gakuen: Eden with roses and Phantasm

It seems just a normal school game, but it isn’t, at all; the more you play, the more you realize there’s a huge secret and you want to understand the truth.

5- Bad Medicine

If you are in the mood for creepy teachers and enjoy dummy head mic fanservice, this short game will interests you!

4- Dynamic chord Reve Parfait

It’s the first and my favorite game of the series; get ready to be captured in a world of youth, music and love, but also betrayal and angst.

3- Taisho Alice

It seems cute at first, but it becomes darker and psychological as you progress. A great game!

2- Nightshade/Hyakka Yakurou

This game was originally for PsVita, but there’s also a localization available for PC.

I highly recommend it to everyone: it can be really sad and tragic, but it’s an amazing story with great characters!

1- Black Wolves Saga

A beautiful tragedy, it made me feel true despair and sadness.

My poor heart was shattered into pieces.

Definitely a must play for every otome gamer!

Kuudere TOP10

“Kuudere” is a type of stoic character I personally can’t deal with so easily: I don’t know how to win their hearts, they look too hard to get and mysterious for me.

Maybe that’s the reason why they are so popular? Here’s my TOP10!

10- Galahad- Princess Arthur

He’s apparently cold, but he’s capable of bold actions that will make your heart explode!

9- ChouRyou- Jyuuzaengi

He’s difficult for him to understand human feelings, but his sweet smile is enough to make us melt!

8- Hanzo- Nightshade

A strong and determinate shinobi, he’s apparently heartless and indefeatable.

But is it true? He actually hides a kind heart.

7- Yuu- Dynamic chord

His distant attitude makes him difficult to approach.

But don’t give up, he just needs help to overcome his pain!

6- Rem- Dance with Devils

A true prince charming, loyal and strong; he’s ready to sacrify everything for the girl he loves, even if it takes a lot for him to admit his feelings. “Emo liar” anyone?

5- Kurodo- Shinobi koi utsutsu

Shinobi are strong and dedicate, but it doesn’t mean they can’t fall in love!

4- Clock Zero- Riichiro

Serious since his childhood days, apparently uncapable of romantic feelings; but he’s actually ready to start a revolution to protect his loved one.

3- Rei- Blackish house

He seems to hate every girl who tries to approach him, and he can act cold and rude sometimes; but if you manage to catch his heart, he becomes a true prince charming.

2- Kent- Amnesia

Strict and serious, he’s afraid to face every kind of feeling (love most of all) because it’s impossible to undertsand them using logic, as he does with math problems.

Give him some time to open up, he will win your heart with his shyness!

1- Saito- Hakuouki

He’s the most famous kuudere of the world, and one of the most loved character ever.

Why? Explaining his charm is difficult, but you’ll undertsand for sure when you’ll meet him!

Who’s your favorite? Do you like kuudere?

Otome games Artists appreciation post!

Can you imagine an otome game without beautiful CGs?

There are many great artists who bless us with their amazing talent, so it’s time to thank them in a post! I won’t even rank my preferences this time, I just want to show my appreciation for their hard work.

1- Usuba Kageroo

Her most famous work is probably the Wand of Fortune series, but don’t forget Reine Des Fleurs.

I can’t wait for Variable Barricade!

2- Satoi

She worked on many popular titles, from Diabolik Lovers to Nil Admirari, OzMafia! and Re:Birthday/Un:birthday song.

3- Kazuki Yone

Worldwide famous for illustrating Hakuouki, she also worked on Kamigami no Asobi.

I hope Koroshiya to Strawberry will be great too!

4- Kawahito Yasutake

He worked on successful series like Storm Lover and Klap!, I hope to see his new works soon in a new game!

5- Kuroyuki

She is vastly famous for Black Wolves Saga and Period Cube, but she also worked on Gekka Ryouran Romance, an underrated game I personally enjoyed a lot!

6- Hanamura Mai

Who has never heard of Amnesia and Collar Malice? She’s one of my favorite artist!

7- Miko

She has blessed us working on many games, from Code Realize to Toki no Kizuna and Moujuutsukai to Ouji sama. Her art keeps getting better every game!

8- Teita

Mostly famous for illustrating the Norn9 series, she also worked on Juuzaengi and Nightshade.

Don’t miss Charade Maniacs!

Making a complete list of otome game artists would be almost impossible, but at least I wanted to celebrate some of them. Who’s your favorite?

TOP10 Otome games Sensei

There are usually 2 types of teachers in otome games: the ones who flirt with students, pretending the police won’t come for them, and those who feel guilty when they fall in love and try to suppress their feelings.

Let’s take a look at some of them!

10- Nami (Re:Birthday song)

He’s in charge of the problematic students in the Netherworld, but he always seems lazy and uncaring. Be careful of his hidden yandere personality!

9- Yoimiya (Ouma ga toki)

Soft and kind with his students, he hides a dramatic secret regarding his sister’s death which haunts him with feelings of guilt and regret.

8- Sanada Yukikage (Shinobi Koi Utsutsu)

He’s very protective towards the heroine because he knew her since she was a child, so he somehow managed to hide his feelings until she graduates.

7- Fuji Reito (Gekka ryouran romance)

He’s the popular school doctor, always kind and loved by everyone.

He enjoys flirting with female students, who fall in love immediately.

6- Izumo Shion (Klap)

He’s a disciplinary teacher, but also the God of Poverty.

He has a lot of sadistic moments, when he obviously enjoys whipping his students who lose control of their powers; but he also needs to be punished sometimes!

5- Thoth Caduceus (Kamigami no asobi)

Despite being a strict teacher, he has no problems flirting with the heroine in the school library, making her uncomfortable and confused. He knows what he wants and shows no hesitations!

4- Sugai Tsukasa (Storm Lover)

Elegant and serious, he’s an old fashioned man who enjoys the tea ceremony.

He’s really popular among his students, because he’s always nice and helpful in any subject.

3- Shido Kaname (Bad Medicine)

An english teacher obsessed with order and perfection.

His idea of discipline is very peculiar: he will lock you in a special room, flipping his whip at you until you learn how to respect the school rules properly.

He always wears gloves because he hates touching directly anyone and anything.

2- Asahina Tenma (Glass hear princess)

Always happy and positive, he’s really popular with the students.

He’s apparently very transparent, but… he hides an amazing secret!

1-Nagihara Taiki (Bad Medicine)

A math teacher, paranoid and obsessed with perfect scores: if you can’t get a 100/100, be prepared for the worse because he’ll make you go crazy; since he doesn’t care about other people’s emotions, he’ll start insulting you for being a failure and he’ll immediately lose interest in you. Are you ready?

What’s your favorite kind of teacher?

TOP10 Genki boys

Back with another TOP10, and this time it’s about genki boys!

Their bright smile is our source of energy and happiness, so they deserve all our love!

10- Tenma – Glass Heart Princess

He’s the energetic health doctor of Kyouko’s school and he also hides an unpredictable secret: he’s in fact a vampire!

9 – Azuma – Trigger Kiss

Powerful and energetic, he’s the captain of the superpower club of his school.

He always fights with passion and does his best to win every challenge!

8 – Chitose – Toki no kizuna

He’s straight-forward and short tempered, but he ends up being really cute when he falls in love.

7 – Chouhi – Jyuuzaengi

He’s always working hard to become stronger and finally getting recognized by KanU as a man, instead of a younger brother. His sacrifices will pay back!

6 – Sud- Yuukyuu noTierblade

I think he has the typical personality of the “main guy” in games with a lot of action scenes: he’s determined, reliable, strong but also kind.

He understands Eve’s struggles and makes her feel protected and loved.

5 – Apollon – Kamigami no Asobi

His sweet smile and gentle attitude make him look like a knight, not only a Greek God.

Even if there were shadows in his past, he tried his best to be the mood maker of the group and he supported the heroine, trying to make her feel at ease.

4 – Heishi – Norn9

I think his positive attitude was a perfect match for Nanami, since he showed her a colorful and warm world she couldn’t see, while trapped in her sadness.

3 – Impey – Code Realize

Sometimes I feel like this poor guy is considered annoying for no other reason than being honest and cheerful. I personally loved his personality and I thank him for making me laugh and feel blessed throughout his routes.

2 – Otoya- Utapri

Despite his sad childhood, he managed to become a sunshine for all the people around him; but he’s also fragile as a flower and he deserves to be loved more than anyone else!

1- Mineo – Collar Malice

Despite the dark scenario and the serious theme of the game, he always managed to make me smile and he kept bringing positive vibes even when the situation was depressing or even tragic.

He’s my sunshine and I hope he gets all the appreciation he deserves!

TOP10 Otome games Tropes

Since I love to show you how terrible my taste in men is, after my Top10 Husbando, I’m here presenting you my TOP10 Tropes, aka the type of characters I usually enjoy the most in otome games. I’ll start from the ones I don’t find interesting or sexy, up to the trope which usually catch my heart. Feel free to judge me really hard!

10- Shota

No matter how hard I try, I can’t enjoy shota routes: I don’t feel slightly attracted to them, they look more like little brothers than husbando material. I don’t enjoy dealing with children, so I don’t want one as a boyfriend. If the route is good, the best I can say about them is “cute”.

9- Kuudere

I need to put this kind of character in the bottom of my list, since it’s always a mystery to me: no matter how hard I try, I can’t understand them and I can’t feel attracted to someone who barely shows human feelings.

I kinda admire them for being so stoic tho, so I can’t say I completely dislike this trope… I simply don’t want a kuudere as a boyfriend.

8- Megane

I guess people are attracted to this kind of characters since they look smarter and sexier with their glasses on? It doesn’t really work on me, but I can understand why they are appealing.

7- Genki

You know, those boys who are always smiling, happy and positive, no matter what happens?

For me, they are perfect friends. I love how they can make the heroine smile, when she feels sad or worried. But I see them more as friends than romantic interests.

6- Sensei

Maybe it’s not a type of character, but it’s definitely a trope in every school game: the young, good looking teacher. Usually in his late 20’s, he approaches the heroine with his cool adult charm.

5- Childhood friends

This kind of route may turn out different from your expectations: he could end up being a sweet tsundere, confessing his love for you while stuttering and blushing, or a creepy yandere ready to put you in a cage. There’s no in between.

4-Tsundere

I bet no one can resist a cute boy blushing and blabbering nonsense, when he’s too shy to express his feelings. I guess this is the most popular type! Well, it works pretty well on me too.

3-Onii chan

I know, this trope can be disturbing, it’s a sensitive topic.

Maybe it’s because I’m an only child, I’d probably be disgusted if I had an older brother.

But I don’t, so I kinda enjoy the idea of an older brother who is secretly in love with me since childhood.

2- Onnatarashii/Playboy

This is the kind of man I’d definitely hate and avoid in real life, because they aren’t trustworthy at all. But in otome games, when they fall in love with the heroine, they magically became very devoted and from that moment they completely stop playing around with other girls.

Their confident attitude makes them really attractive to me, they are honest and have no fear to show their feelings.

1- Yandere

Ok, judge me as you want. I know many people hate this trope and I can’t deny it may be disturbing sometimes. But this is fiction, not real life. In games, I look for interesting characters, who are unpredictable and make me want to see how far they can get. Yandere rarely let me down, their route is a wild ride that catches my attention til the end!

What’s your favorite trope? Or maybe do you prefer ore sama, koakuma or even ossans? Let me know!

TOP5 Shota

As you probably know, I’m not interested in shota most of the time; but sometimes, when a miracle happens and they stop acting childish and annoying, I end up liking some of them.

Here’s my TOP5!

5- Erik- Moujuutsukai to ouji sama

What I loved the most about him, was his sudden change of attitude: he could be very sweet and shy, but also become charismatic and sexy. He had a huge character development!

4- Iori- ChouChou Jiken

Despite looking like a 14 years old, he’s actually 24.

His route was one of the creepiest I’ve even played, but also interesting and well written; he ended up being my best boy in ChouChou Jiken, even if his bratty attitude made me want to punch him most of the time. But you know, my taste is bad.

3- Remu- Bad Medicine

He was the chemistry teacher, but he looked even younger than his students.

Don’t let his looks fool you: his bad endings were true hell!

2- Saphy/Aoshi Jewelic Nightmare

His route wasn’t that special, but something about him caught my heart: maybe it was his sweet smile, or maybe the respectful tone he always had, while calling the heroine “onee san”. You know how weak I am.

1- Shuri- Moshikami

I really appreciated him for being so mature and reliable, despite his looks.

In that bloody hell, he was a true light of hope.

Who’s your favorite shota? Do you like this trope?
