Just a reminder!

Hello everyone!

A quick post to remind you that my blog survey is almost closed, in a few days I’ll post the results!

If you come here often, I’d like you to answer and tell me your wishes, I want to make this blog even more enjoyable!

Here’s the survey link —-> Survey
Thanks!

Cheap PsVita games I’ll probably buy (and review) sooner or later!

Even if I’ve played too many games already, as you can see from my review list, there’s still a lot of stuff which I’ve never tried for various reasons: bad reviews, weird art, questionable plot…

But since the prices for Psvita games are dropping, let’s take a look together at previously released games I decided to skip in the past, but I could consider getting this year.

– Suuran Digit

Many people found it boring, but I’d like to try by myself one day. I wouldn’t spend more than 20 on this tho.

– Marginal 4

I watched the anime and enjoyed it, but I’m not into idols in general, I’m probably too old for this.

I wouldn’t spend more than 10 euro.

– Gunka o haita neko

I was curious, it looks cute, but I remember hearing complaints about the boring plot. I think it’s worth about 15 euro.

– Senjou no Waltz

I’ve heard that the system is annoying, but the art is beautiful. Maybe it’s worth 15 euro.

– Bara ni Kakusareshi verité

I’ve heard that the long common route is boring to sit through. I’m not a fan of the art. I’d spend about 15 euro on this.

– Torikago no marriage

I’ve been told it’s good, but the art pulls me off a bit. Maybe 10 euro.

– Maji kyun Renaissence

I’ve watched the anime, it was cute, but too stereotypical, it didn’t gain my interest. I wouldn’t spend more than 10 euro.

– Heiligenstadt no Uta

The theme could be interesting, but the art pulls me off. I’d spend about 10 euro on his.

– Fortissimo

Again, idols. I was ready to spend money just for Fuuto, bu apparently he doesn’t have his route, this is all about his band mates; what a stupid decision. I wouldn’t spend more than 15 euro.

– Moujuu-tachi to Ohime sama

Apparently, the system is rage inducing. The art is cute, the concept is a bit creepy. I’d give 10 euro for this.

– Side Kicks!

It has great reviews, but somehow it didn’t get my interest; I think it’s worth trying, but the price is still too high for my expectations of enjoyment, I’ll wait until it drops under 20 euro.

– Hakuouki Sweet School Life

We all loved Hakuouki and it would be nice, seeing those characters in a quiet environment. But I’m a bit tired of school games, I’ve been through a lot, I’m scared it could be boring. I wouldn’t spend more than 15 on this.

Well, there are still many old games I could buy and play!

I guess you thought I’ve been through most of the decent titles already, but apparently there’s a lot more; I guess you noticed that recently I didn’t get many Switch releases too, because they are too expensive. Sadly, Nintendo hates sales, I don’t think the prices will drop significantly, as PsVita games. But I have no problems with 2nd hand stuff, so we’ll see what happens in the future.

Any advice? Is there something in this list I should buy?

2021 new otome game releases!

What’s waiting for us in 2021?

Due to covid19, this year’s Otomate Party wasn’t held as usual: the new games were announced through a video and we all got the feeling that it wasn’t over like that, something greater was waiting for a proper announcement.

Let’s take a look at the new otome games which already have a set release date.

Lover Pretend will be released on 25/03 and I’ll get it for sure.

It seems cute visually, but the plot may turn out to be deeper than it seems: the heroine is looking for her father, while trying to become a scriptwriter. I guess some mystery is involved, I don’t know how the plot will be developed, but I have good hopes.

Tokei Jikake no Apocalypse will be released on 22/04 and I admit I don’t know what to expect: I was really excited when it was first showed, “a story which starts from a bad end” is a theme that gets my interest. Sadly, the art looks weird sometimes, which is something that raises some worries; I hope the writing is not amateur-style too.

Jack Jeanne doesen’t attract my interest, I’m done with the “I’m a girl who pretends to be a boy” trope. I loved it like 10 years ago, when I watched dramas, but it’s not my style in otome games.

It will be released on 18/03.

Now, let’s talk about other games which will be released sometime in 2021 (hopefully).

My mostly anticipated release is Shuuen no Virche ErroR:Salvation.

We still don’t know that much about it, but it looks dark, creepy and maybe angsty; you know, that’s my style. My expectations are really high, if it’s properly developed, I can imagine it as my favorite game of 2021.

I still have no opinion about Paradigm Paradox, it didn’t impress me, but maybe I’ll change my mind when there’s more information about it.

I’m so excited to see that the anime Otome game no hametsu flag was adapted into a proper otome game, it was unexpected and I’ll play it for sure! If you haven’t watched the anime, I suggest you to give it a try, I had lots of fun!

Spade no kuni no Alice is not for me, I’m tired of the Alice concept.

Bustafellows 2 is a must for me, I enjoyed the main game and I’m happy about the sequel!

Kimi ga yukima ni koi negau looks great, but I need to be in the mood for historical games, so we’ll see, I can’t decide now.

These are probably the most important new releases, but a special mention goes to Zettai Kaikyuu Gakuen shiawase iro no tobira, which I’ll get for sure.

It’s impossible to predict if Rejet will ever release Dorico, even if apparently that project is still alive; or if Broccoli will finally release UtaPri Dolce vita or Meiji Tokyo Renka Dance Party in 2021.

I also wonder what Poni-Pachet is doing, with Yuukoku no Perseus, Oz Mafia Reflexion and Akatsuki no Betelgeuse… time will tell.

What’s your most anticipated game?

Happy new year!

Hello everyone!

It’s a tradition for me, to write down all the resolutions I make for a new year, and take a look at all the accomplishments I achieved in the past months.

But 2020 has been so weird, it was obviously impossible to fulfill all my plans: I had to postpone my wedding, my trip to Japan and Nightwish concert; basically I had to adapt to a new life, as everyone else in the world.

Instead of complaining, I’ll just share my happiness for surviving this hell so far, hoping this nightmare will end very soon. I really hope 2021 will bring joy to the world, we all deserve it.

The only positive event of the past year, is my new job: it’s tiring, but I consider myself very lucky to have a stable income in a shop that won’t close during lockdown.

My resolutions for this year are basically to fulfill my personal 2020 goals and keep living to the fullest, enjoying all the happy moments without taking good things for granted.

This pandemic reminded us what’s truly important, it’s a lesson we should always remember.

I want to make serious efforts to get along better to the people around me, at work and private life; I’d like to interact more with the otome game community, there are so many amazing people, but somehow I’m always terrible at making new friends! I’ll try to be more present on social media: I mostly observe silently, but I want to make an effort to actually talk to my long time friends and new followers more.

I hope 2020 wasn’t too painful for you and I truly wish you all a wonderful 2021.

Thank you for coming here through the years and welcome if you’re new: I hope this blog will bring you a smile. May your wishes came true!

A new survey!

Hello everyone!
Since 2020 is ending in a few days I’m reflecting seriously on what to change in my blog, to make it more entertaining and maybe useful for my readers.
Many of you were kind enough to answer my survey in October, and you even told me you’d enjoy having an active role while answering to my polls.
Well, it’s your time!

Here’s my new Survey!

This time it’s mainly about the future of this blog, I have many ideas and I’d like to know what you think about them: your answers will decide the future of this place, so I’d be very happy to know your opinion, if I had to bring new topics and made changes.

I really appreciate your contribution, thanks to everyone who will take some time to answer it!

I hope you’re all enjoying your Christmas Holidays, even at these difficult times…… please, be safe, whatever you do and wherever you are. See you soon in 2021!

What’s in my backlog?

We always talk about our “neverending backlogs”, it’s a very common joke in our community; but are your unplayed games so many, that you can’t even count them?

Well, I’ve decided to take a look at my stuff, just to feel guilty and see what’s actually there.

This could also be interesting, for everyone who has ever asked me: “did you buy XY?” or “do you plan to play XX?”, since I guarantee that, sooner or later, I’ll be able to complete it all; I hate wasting money, so it’s just a matter of time, even for very old games.

Let’s start!

My Switch otome games:

  • Piofiore no banshou 1926

  • Dairoku Ayakashimori

  • Toraware no Palm

  • Cendrillon Phalika

  • Jakou no Lyla

Since I bought my Switch Lite at the beginning of 2020, I still don’t have many unplayed games; also, since they are really expensive, I’ll be careful with my choices.

My PsVita otome games:

  • Code Realize Shirogane no kiseki

  • Root rexx

  • Teikoku Kaigun Koi Bojou

  • Possession Magenta

  • Hyakka Yakou

  • Believer!

  • Amnesia World

This list is going to increase, even if this console is basically dead, because there are many games I still have to buy since the prices are dropping; I’ll probably get some of them one day: Hakuouki School Life, Suuran Digit… not great stuff probably, but I can’t say no to cheap games. Maybe I’ll find hidden gems.

My PC Otome games:

  • Un:birthday Song

  • Kannagi no mori

  • Dot Kareshi I

  • Ken ga kimi (which I have partially played, but not completed)

As you probably know, I don’t like that much playing on PC; slowly but surely, I’ll get through those games too.

My PSP Otome games:

  • Urakata Hakuouki

  • Jyuuzaengi 2

  • Utapri After Secret

  • Arcana Famiglia 2

  • Unending Bloody Call

  • Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku

Yes, from time to time I still use my old friend PSP! Obviously, it’s getting more and more difficult since my eyes are getting used to the Switch high resolution, but I won’t give up until I cleared it all! When games are cheap, you can always count me in.

So, what do you think about my backlog? Did you think it was even worse? Or slightly better?

I guess you’re probably surprised that I’m still buying and playing old stuff, but Switch games are too expensive, for the same price I could literally buy 4 PsVita/PSP games and I can’t afford getting (almost) every new release immediately, as I used to in the past.

Of course, I’ll keep buying the games which interest me the most, but for the others I’ll probably wait a few months for reviews or a price drop. As a person who plays a lot, I need to make smart choices. Games I neglected in the past, which are ridiculously cheap now, could still end up being entertaining!

My first survey is over: here’s the result!

Hello everyone!

It’s been a few days since my anniversary post, but also since the little survey I made up is closed.

First of all, thanks to the kind people who took their time to participate, it was really useful for me!

While reading your answers, I got to know you better and I could reflect on many ways to improve this place. I hope you’ll be nice enough to participate to future surveys and polls, when the time comes!

Let’s check the results together starting with the questions about you!

Most of my readers are between 20-30 years old, which is the most common range in the otome game community, from what I’ve seen on twitter too.

Hello to my teen readers, but most of all to over 30 people like me, yay for making me feel less lonely!

Most of you are European, which came as a surprise, somehow I thought most of you were from the USA or even Asia. Well, hello fellow Europeans, greetings from Italy!

Most of you have been reading my blog for less than a year, I guess you came here recently due to quarantine boredom. I hope you will stay even when the covid will finally disappear and you’ll became loyal readers for years!

I thought Twitter was the place where my blog spreads the most, but unexpectedly most of you found it while looking for otome game reviews on google.

The result which surprised me the most, is when I asked “which are your favorite posts?”: most of you were really kind and said they love everything, while others answered reviews. So little love for TOP10? I don’t know why, but I had this feeling that maybe TOP10 were more appreciated than reviews. Nice to know!

Most of you expect a new post each month and you come here randomly, when you have free time. That’s fair! Actually, I try to write 4 times each month, I’m glad it seems fine for your expectations.

The vast majority of you said that my blog is fine as it is, it won by a huge margin, so thanks a lot!

For others who would prefer more TOP10 or reviews, don’t worry, many are coming soon!

And now, the question which scared me the most: “What’s your impression of me?”.

I was a bit scared to ask this, since I don’t really know how my writing style is perceived; English it’s not even my first language and I thought I was giving the wrong impression sometimes.

But gladly, none of you thinks I’m annoying, most of you want me as a friend!

Thank you!! don’t be shy, talk to me here or on twitter, I’m here to make friends!!

Most of you already follow me on twitter, which is not a surprise.

Now, the last question: I’ve asked you if you’d enjoy to participate in survey and polls, so I can write about the results and we could talk about it. I’m really happy to see that most of you were entustiastic, will others still were positive to participate from time to time!

Tha’ts a good news, since I had a lot of fun doing this, it was informative and it helped me to know a lot of interesting things. I hope somehow it was interesting for you to read!

A lot of TOP10 and reviews are coming soon, but before the year ends you can expect my usual otome games awards, my plans for 2021 and my gaming schedule. Since you are mostly new to this, I hope you’ll look forward to it even more.

Maybe I’ll come up with a new poll too, so I can make new resolutions for 2021 and change this place a bit. Let’s see what is my inspiration.

Again, thank you for participating! And if you are reading now, but you missed the survey, or were too busy to answer, I hope you’ll consider taking part in the next one!

Have a good day!

It’s the 4th anniversary!!

Another (terrible) year has passed again, but here I am once more, celebrating my blog’s anniversary! It’s been 4 long years since that day, 2nd November 2016.

It was a long road, many ups and downs, and I would lie if I’d tell you, smiling, that I’ve never thought about going on hiatus or even giving up; but I enjoy too much writing, I’m grateful to all my lovely friends and lurking readers, so I can’t imagine neglecting this place.

Somehow, my blog’s existence is soothing, it makes me feel comfortable; it feels like it can gather people who share my same interests and passion, so I can’t feel lonely.

It would be really nice, if people who come here could consider this place soothing too.

Anyway, let’s take a look at these past months.

Since my last anniversary I’ve written a total of 46 posts, in detail:

  • I’ve written 18 reviews

My most popular review this year was Charade Maniacs, which is not surprising since the game itself was popular in Japan. My favorite was probably Gekka Ryouran Romance, I’ve been wanting to write my opinion about it since I first played it 7 years ago, back in the old times when I didn’t even think about opening a blog; I hope more people will try it!

  • I’ve written 14 TOP10

I know I’ve written so many TOP10 already, but somehow I still have many ideas, I have a long list! Sorry if they will become really weird one day, but at least I can say they are original, it’s not something you could read anywhere else! I hope so. My personal favorite of this year was TOP10 Typical situations in otome games, I had a lot of fun!

  • I’ve written 14 random posts about my life, my opinions about games, my gaming schedule and much more

Many random posts were about quarantine or life problems, sadly, while others were game related, since I’ve decided to reveal a few unpopular opinions I’ve always hidden.

If you’re interested in otome games limited drama cd, you can check my post since I’m still selling a few; if you want to support my blog, here’s my ko-fi page.

Quarantine gave me too much free time, I think this is a personal record, I’ve never been able to write this much! But this happened also because I received so many kind messages, which gave motivation to keep going, even at hard times.

A special thanks, obviously, to my sweet friends who even supported me on ko-fi, I don’t deserve it, but I’ll keep working!! I still have many plans, I hope you’ll enjoy it all!

I’ve been promising magazine translations and drama cd reviews for 2 years, but I always fail miserably; well, selling that stuff obviously doesn’t help, but there’s always a chance that I could change my mind. You must know, that I’m really a lunatic person: I can go for 2 weeks without writing a single post, then I spend one full day writing 5 of them. It’s the same for games, sometimes I’m hyped or maybe for a week I have no will to turn on my Switch.

But there’s something I guarantee you: next year, on the same date, we’ll see each other again!

Let’s build a community! A survey for my readers

My unpopular otome game opinions!

I bet every otome game player is hiding a secret: maybe someone enjoys controversial tropes, or maybe they secretly love games considered kusoge by most of the fandom.

Well, after 7 years, I think it’s time for me to spill some tea and reveal my inner thoughts, those I usually avoid to talk about on twitter, because I don’t want to argue online; you know, sometimes people take hobbies and opinions too seriously, I don’t want to be part of that ridiculous stuff.

Ok, take a deep breath and let’s get started!

1- Reine des Fleurs was not THAT bad.

Even if it’s commonly considered a kusoge, I actually enjoyed it.

The Ravir system didn’t bother me, the characters were cool, the art was astonishingly beautiful, the BGM was great and I loved even Violette, I think a spoiled and egoist heroine is a nice change, for once. I’m really tired of heroines who are always willing to sacrifice themselves for others, I found her egoism more realistic. I admit I haven’t completed all the endings, it would have been really a pain, but I’m not obsessed with completion and I think that people would enjoy this game more, without worrying unnecessarily about trophies.

2- I couldn’t complete Ken Ga Kimi.

I know, it’s weird, since it’s considered a masterpiece.

But the common route was really too long and I lose interest easily, if a game can’t get my attention in a couple hours. I’ve promised myself I’ll try to play the routes I’m still missing, but I can never find the motivation.

3- Diabolik Lovers is not plotless blood sucking

Many people hate this series and I perfectly understand that it’s not for everyone, but saying that there’s no plot or character development in Diabolik Lovers is objectively wrong.

Also, judging people because they like sadistic characters is awful, we all have the right to enjoy our games, even if they can be controversial.

4- Enjoying yandere or onii chan tropes is legit

I get it, yandere are basically creepy stalkers and siblings loving each other is gross, that’s obvious.

But games and real life are different, enjoying these characters does not mean I’d love to experience that in real life. It should be obvious, but apparently it isn’t and I should feel guilty about it. Well, surprise, I don’t!

5- If I love/like/appreciate a villain or a controversial character, I’m not condoning his actions

Being fascinated by a charismatic villain, does not mean I agree with his awful behavior: I’ve always been intrigued by Mejojo’s personality, but there’s no way I would think that being a dictator who tortures people and orders a genocide is good. Who do you think I am?! Again, real life and games are on separate levels, no one was hurt while I played Black Wolves Saga. (actually, my soul was broken to pieces, but I agreed with that so it doesn’t count).

Well, that’s all. I don’t think someone will be offended, but I’m sure not everyone will agree… that’s my opinion, you’re free to have yours, but at least have some respect. It’s easy to attack and insult people on internet, I’ve seen that and I’ve also been through it, but this is just an hobby: take it easy!
